Truth and Hope

Here's some truth: It is okay, and there is hope. It has taken me 31 years to realize that. Through tears, anger, pillows soaked with tears, and some broken hearts, and finally through surrendering my heart to God, I have learned that there is nothing "wrong" with being single and I (we) have hope in Christ.

That's the theme for this blog. Hope for the single. Hope for those who are going through life without being married, or are maybe finding themselves single again.

Those with broken hearts? There is hope. Those who are angry at God? Yup, there is hope for you. Those with a jaded view of marriage? There is hope.

Like I said, I'm 31 years old. My secret? I've never been kissed. I've never had a serious boyfriend. I'm single, but finding hope in God.

I feel as though women who are single and past 22 (at least in my area) have this overwhelming pressure to find someone. Get married. Have kids. And, if we haven't done that by at least 25, there's something wrong with you. Like God made a mistake. Or somehow you're paying for mistakes you've made.

But, that's a lie. Straight from the pit of Hell. Being single isn't God's "fault" anymore than it is mine or yours. It's just how it is. And if we keep wishing that we were married, or keep thinking that our lives would be better if we were in some other stage of our lives, then we're wasting our lives. We're just marking time. But, God doesn't make mistakes. We are right where He wants us.

So, this blog is about lies that single women believe that keep us from having hope. That keep us from believing God.

And how do we combat lies? With truth. So, single women, enjoy some truth to spur you in your walk.
